There is certain legislation to become a Driving Instructor (ADI) and ethics that the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) administers.

The Register of Approved Driving Instructors is managed by the DVSA. Which is an Executive Agency of the Department of Transport, under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

Firstly before training, you need to

• Have held a full licence for at least four years and have no more than 5 points overall.
• Be a fit and proper person.
• Be able to obtain two Referees when registering with the DSA
• Read a number plate at 27.5 metres (unless wide then 26.5 metres)*

*If you usually wear glasses or contact lenses then they must be worn while driving.
